Shawnee girls win soccer championship at the 28th annual SAY State Soccer Tournament. 

Lima, OH- Shawnee Youth Soccer Association (SYSA) announces that the SYSA Under-16 Girls’ teams, coached by Chad Lauck and assisted by Patrick O’Connor, have recently won the Ohio State Soccer tournament in Milford, Ohio hosted by SAY Soccer. 

This tournament featured competition amongst all the 1st placed teams from the current fall season amongst all State wide SAY soccer association districts.  The qualifying teams then participated in a multiple weekend, single elimination tournament. 

Shawnee’s team made up of eighth and seventh grade girls defeated West Chester 5-0, Walnut Hills 1-0 and then Clifton 4-2 in the finals to garner the Championship.  This is the first such State SAY championship in the history of all Shawnee Youth Soccer Association teams. 

Head Coach Lauck said “This is the ultimate frosting on the cake, many of these girls have played together for years and all their hard work and commitment to the team and their own development as young ladies made this championship possible.  I’m thrilled for them and the entire Shawnee soccer association!”
